New Delhi, Aug. 1 -- The long-held belief in the purity of Himalayan rainwater is now under serious threat.

A new study by Indian researchers has found that clouds drifting over the Eastern Himalayas and the Western Ghats are increasingly acting as carriers of toxic heavy metals from polluted lowlands, raising concerns about long-term public health impacts and environmental degradation in some of India's most ecologically sensitive zones.
