Hamirpur (HP), Jan. 24 -- A lower court in Himachal Pradesh court dealing with POCSO cases has sentenced a man to 25 years' rigorous imprisonment for raping his minor, deaf and mute granddaughter.
POCSO Special Judge here Bhuvnesh Awasthi, who delivered the verdict on Friday, also imposed a fine of Rs 10.30 lakh on the convict as compensation for the victim's rehabilitation.
The case was registered at a police station in Hamirpur district in 2022. Later, the case was transferred to the Women's Police Station in Hamirpur, and after a thorough investigation, a charge sheet was filed in court.
