Shimla, June 28 -- Accusing the Centre, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan of step-motherly treatment, Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has reiterated the state's demand for 12 per cent free power royalty from the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) and stressed that all centrally-established power projects on state land should be transferred to the Himachal government after 40 years, as per state policy.
Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said the state is engaged in a protracted battle to secure the rights of its people. He questioned the profit-making by central agencies from hydel power generated from Himachal's rivers while denying rightful benefits to the state.
