Shimla, Oct. 1 -- Himachal Pradesh is exploring collaboration with New Zealand in the horticulture sector to boost apple and pear cultivation.

A delegation led by New Zealand High Commissioner Patrick John Rata called on Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in Shimla on Tuesday, to discuss avenues of partnership.

The Chief Minister said that both regions share many similarities, and cooperation could significantly enhance the income of fruit growers in Himachal.

He stated that New Zealand's advanced practices, technology transfer, and farmer training would help improve productivity, strengthen post-harvest management, and meet international quality standards, thereby raising the global competitiveness of Himachal's produce.
