Shimla, Aug. 28 -- Torrential rains over the past 24 hours have brought life to a standstill in Himachal Pradesh, with the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway (NH-3) suffering extensive damage and leaving over 4,000 tourists and commuters stranded at various stretches.

The highest rainfall was recorded at Pandoh in Mandi district, which received 108 mm in the past day. The relentless downpour triggered multiple landslides and washed away portions of the highway, particularly near Banala and Pandoh, cutting off vital connectivity between Mandi, Kullu, and Manali.
