Shimla, Sept. 3 -- The Himachal Pradesh government has ordered closure of all government and private educational institutions, including schools, colleges, ITIs, and DIETs, till September 7 following heavy rains that have triggered widespread landslides and flash floods, causing severe damage to infrastructure.
An official order issued by the Department of Higher Education and signed by Secretary (Education) Rakesh Kanwar stated that the decision was taken to ensure the safety of students and staff amid the prevailing bad weather.
Teachers and administrative staff have been exempted from attending institutions, though heads of schools and colleges have been asked to continue teaching through online classes wherever possible.
