Shimla, July 10 -- In a major step towards enhancing public safety and streamlining compliance, the Himachal Pradesh government has made it mandatory for all lifts - whether in public or private buildings - to be registered, licensed, and regularly inspected.
Secretary of the Public Works Department, Dr. Abhishek Jain informed yesterday that citizens can now apply for lift installation approval, renewal, and payment of fees entirely online through the official website edistrict.hp.gov.in. The move aligns with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's directive to give top priority to public safety.
