Shimla, Sept. 21 -- Himachal Kisan Sabha (HKS) has hailed the Supreme Court's decision to maintain status quo on eviction proceedings against small and marginal farmers, calling it a significant relief for thousands of families across the state.

The apex court, in its September 19 order, stayed the Himachal Pradesh High Court's August 5, 2025, ruling that struck down Section 163A of the HP Land Revenue Act.

The High Court had directed the eviction of people occupying forest and government land by January 28, 2026, dashing the hopes of farmers who expected the state government to regularize the small tracts of land being used for homes and livelihoods.
