Shimla, Aug. 19 -- Himachal Pradesh High Court has upheld the decision of the Single Judge Bench refusing service benefits to a government employee who sought correction of his date of birth after more than 17 years of entering service.
A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia and Justice Ranjan Sharma dismissed the Letters Patent Appeal (LPA) filed by the petitioner and observed that the correction in the date of birth had been made far beyond the two-year time limit prescribed under the applicable service rules.
The court noted that as per the service regulations, any request for alteration in the date of birth is required to be made within two years of joining service.
