Shimla, Nov. 22 -- Himachal Pradesh High Court has dismissed a public interest petition challenging the six-month extension granted to former Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxsena, who faces prosecution in the INX Media corruption case.

The Division Bench of Chief Justice G.S. Sandhawalia and Justice Ranjan Sharma ruled that while the PIL filed by Atul Sharma was maintainable due to the public importance of the issue, the extension was lawfully granted. The court held that Saxsena's extension was approved under Rule 16 of the All India Services (DCRB) Rules, 1958, based on a recommendation by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and duly cleared by the union Government.
