Shimla, Feb. 5 -- Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu todat announced that the state government will start charging land revenue from power projects operating in the state, a move expected to generate approximately Rs 1,800 crore annually and provide much-needed fiscal relief amid a severe financial crunch.
The Chief Minister said that the land revenue would be levied at the rate of two per cent of the total average market value of a project. The charge will apply to land being used by hydel power projects for non-agricultural purposes.
He stated that the levy is in accordance with the provisions of land revenue laws and is a legitimate right of the state government.
