Shimla, Aug. 24 -- In a major step towards strengthening plastic waste management and promoting a circular economy, the Himachal Pradesh Government has issued a notification under the Extended Producers Responsibility (EPR) guidelines of the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016.
The Department of Environment, Science, Technology and Climate Change, through a Gazette notification dated August 14, 2025, announced the operational framework of the Himachal Pradesh Deposit Refund Scheme (DRS), 2025, aimed at regulating non-biodegradable packaging waste in the state.
