Shimla, July 17 -- Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today said that the state government is considering approaching the Supreme Court to halt the ongoing cutting of apple trees in Chaithla village of Kotkhai, Shimla district.
The trees, laden with fruit, are being axed under a Special Operation (SOP) team's drive on the orders of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
Speaking to the media, Sukhu stated, "Our government is not in favour of cutting green, fruit-bearing trees. Unfortunately, our plea before the High Court was not considered. We would now explore legal options to seek relief from the Supreme Court."
