Shimla, March 13 -- The Himachal Pradesh Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and the state Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau have been kept outside the ambit of the Right to Information Act, 2005 in the state.

According to a notification issued by the Himachal Pradesh Department of Personnel (Administrative Reforms) on Thursday, these agencies have been exempted from the provisions of the RTI Act under Section 24, which allows certain intelligence and security organisations to be kept outside the purview of the transparency law.

However, the exemption is not absolute. Information related to allegations of corruption and human rights violations can still be sought under the RTI Act even from these agencies.
