Shimla, March 5 -- The Himachal Pradesh government has withdrawn an order issued under the Disaster Management Act (DMA) that had postponed the Panchayati Raj Institution elections in the state, clearing the way for long-pending panchayat and urban local body elections.
The order, originally issued on October 8, 2025, had deferred the elections, citing disruption in connectivity following natural calamities in several parts of the state.
The Disaster Management Cell of the Revenue Department stated that the situation has now largely returned to normal, prompting the government to revoke the order after nearly six months.
