Shimla, June 2 -- In a proactive step to enhance disaster preparedness ahead of the monsoon season, the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA) conducted a state-wide Communication Mock Drill today.

The drill held at 11 am was chaired by D.C. Rana, IAS, Director-cum-Ex Officio Special Secretary (Revenue Disaster Management), and was aimed to assess the resilience of emergency communication networks across the state.

The exercise comes in the backdrop of the upcoming 9th State-Level Mega Mock Exercise and the IMD's forecast of above-normal rainfall for the 2025 monsoon, which raises the risk of glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) and heavy rain-induced disasters in the hilly state.
