Shimla, Sept. 20 -- Former Chief Minister and leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur has questioned the silence of the Himachal Pradesh government over the Supreme Court's decision making Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) mandatory for the continuation and promotion of teachers teaching classes one to eight.

Addressing media here today, Thakur said that several states, including Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, have already filed review petitions in the Supreme Court against the order, but Himachal has not taken any initiative so far. As a result, thousands of teachers in the state are under stress and uncertainty about their future.
