Shimla, Dec. 13 -- The Right to Information (RTI) Act appears to be facing political neglect in Himachal Pradesh, with the ruling Congress government drawing criticism for its failure to implement the transparency law effectively. The RTI Act is one of the flagship legislations of the UPA era under Congress chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

The top posts in the Himachal Pradesh State Information Commission (SIC) have remained vacant since July, with the state government yet to appoint a Chairman and two Information Commissioners. These prolonged vacancies have rendered the statutory appellate body virtually non-functional.
