Shimla, Dec. 15 -- Himachal Pradesh is witnessing a sharp drop in temperatures as the cold wave grips the state. The higher reaches, including Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti, Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi, are expected to experience light rain and snowfall, adding to the winter chill in the mountains according to the Meteorological Department.

The state capital, Shimla will remains cloudy for the next few hours, though snowfall is unlikely in the plains, the cloud cover may cause daytime temperatures to fall further. With just the last two weeks of December left, tourist activity is set to rise, particularly from December 20 onwards, as visitors flock to the mountains hoping for snowfall.
