Shimla, Sept. 20 -- In a significant move to curb digital distraction and improve academic focus, the Directorate of School Education, Himachal Pradesh, has issued a strict directive prohibiting the use of mobile phones by both students and teachers during school hours across all government schools in the state.

The order, dated September 2025, cites mobile phones as a "prime concern" and a "major reason of distraction," severely disrupting the learning process and negatively impacting students' academic and non-academic performance.

The notification highlights the associated social, psychological, and physical hazards, including increased anxiety, stress, social isolation, eye strain, and a sedentary lifestyle.
