Shimla, Aug. 22 -- In a rare display of political consensus amid fierce debate, the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly today unanimously passed a resolution demanding the Centre declare the entire state a 'National Disaster-Affected Area'.

The motion, which initially focused on specific disaster-hit areas up to the Seraj of Mandi district, was dramatically expanded to include the entire state following emotional appeals from ruling party members.
