Shimla, Aug. 22 -- Himachal Pradesh Assembly today raised serious concerns over the rising cases of cancer in the state. It held the excessive use of unregulated pesticides and fertilisers as a prominent reason for the growth.
The issue was highlighted by Congress MLA Kuldeep Singh Rathore, who underscored the alarming spike of cancer patients in apple-rich regions of Shimla and Mandi, saying, "Excessive use of non-branded pesticides and fertilisers has given a flip to new cancer patients."In response, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced a multi-pronged government initiative to tackle the crisis.
