Dharamshala, Feb. 19 -- A collective initiative by farmers in the Lambagaon area of Kangra district has emerged as a model of ruralself-reliance and women-led empowerment in Himachal Pradesh.
The Lambagaon Milk Fed Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO), established in May 2023 at Sua village in Block Lambagaon of Jaisinghpursubdivision, has brought together over 500 farmers, strengthening their livelihoods through collective farming, dairy activities, andscientific support.
A striking feature of the FPO is its women-led governance. Five out of its ten directors are women, who also shoulder key decision-makingresponsibilities, presenting a strong example of rural women's leadership.
