Mumbai, Dec. 3 -- In the municipal council and nagar panchayat elections held today across Maharashtra, despite reports of strained alliances, disputes, and clashes among party workers, voters showed remarkable enthusiasm. According to the state election office data, most regions crossed the 50 percent turnout mark, with some areas even touching 75 percent.

Since these elections have been conducted after a long interval in the state, the excitement visible among political parties, candidates, and the public clearly reflected in voter participation.

Although the first few hours witnessed relatively lower turnout due to cold weather and leopard scare in certain areas, the pace picked up significantly as the day progressed.
