Chandigarh, Sept. 2 -- As relentless rains and flooding wreak havoc across nine districts of Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will spearhead a critical high-level meeting via video conference from Amritsar today to tackle the escalating crisis.

The affected districts, Fazilka, Firozpur, Kapurthala, Pathankot, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Moga, Gurdaspur, and Barnala, along with Jalandhar, which is on alert, have seen over 1,312 villages impacted, according to official reports.

An orange alert for continued heavy rainfall remains in effect.
