Chandigarh, Dec. 8 -- The Punjab and Haryana High Court will on Monday hear a crucial case concerning the interim parole request of Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh, who sought permission to attend the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament.

The court has directed the Punjab government to submit the "primary material" based on which his plea for temporary release was rejected.

During an earlier hearing, the state government argued that even a single speech by Amritpal Singh could "ignite unrest across Punjab's five rivers." The bench, however, observed that such apprehensions must be backed by concrete evidence rather than assumptions, stressing that decisions affecting personal liberty must rest on solid records.
