Shimla, Nov. 22 -- The CBI's investigation into the alleged abetment to suicide of HPPCL Chief Engineer Vimal Negi suffered a setback on Thursday, as the Himachal Pradesh High Court rejected its plea to remove the State Government from the proceedings.

A single bench of Justice Virender Singh, in a detailed 13-page order, dismissed the CBI's application (CrMP No. 4390 of 2025), holding that the presence of the State as a party does not impede the ongoing probe. The order, passed in the bail proceedings of accused IAS officer Harikesh Meena, emphasized that the CBI alone remains responsible for conducting the investigation and submitting status reports.
