Aizawl, Dec. 17 -- Drug abuse has claimed 88 lives in Mizoram so far this year - the highest annual toll recorded in the past 21 years. All the deaths are linked to heroin use, either consumed individually or mixed with other clinical drugs, according to official data released on Wednesday. Against this grim backdrop, officials of the Mizoram excise and narcotics department on Tuesday evening seized 345 grams of heroin from a privately run homestay in northern Aizawl and arrested three persons, including a Myanmar national, in connection with the case.
