Jammu, May 8 -- The strategic Jammu-Srinagar highway was closed for vehicular movement on Thursday morning due to mudslide triggered by heavy rains in mountainous Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir.

A senior traffic official said that due to overnight rains, mudslides near Trishul Morh blocked the highway in Ramban.

"The vehicular movement has been suspended on the highway from both the sides while police along with civil administration are on job with the help of machinery to clear the road and restore the traffic," he added.

He said that vehicles are stranded on both sides of the highway but efforts are being made on war footing for traffic restoration.
