Hamirpur, Sept. 1 -- Continuous heavy downpour over the past three days has triggered land sinking in Chabutra Dalit Basti, located on the Hamirpur-Sujanpur highway in Himachal Pradesh, forcing authorities to evacuate an entire settlement on Sunday.
According to official reports, six houses were badly damaged and around fifteen others developed cracks as the land started sinking following the incessant rainfall.
Alarmed by the growing threat, the local administration swiftly moved 120 residents of the village to safer places. The affected families have been temporarily sheltered in nearby panchayat ghars, satsang bhawans, and at the residences of their relatives.
