Nanded, Sept. 28 -- Heavy rainfall was recorded in twenty-five mandals of seven talukas in Nanded district during the last 24 hours causing all major, medium, and small irrigation projects to fill to their full capacity, with large-scale water release ongoing.

A total of 2,19,229 cusecs of water is being released into the Godavari river by opening sixteen gates of Vishnupuri dam, leading the river to cross the warning level of 353.90 metres.

In view of these conditions, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Nanded district, and the administration has directed people living in low-lying areas to move to safer places.
