Kolkata, July 26 -- Kolkata and its surrounding regions have been experiencing heavy rainfall for the past two days, leading to widespread waterlogging in several areas.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted continued rainfall across West Bengal until July 31.
According to the IMD, the current low-pressure area, which developed off the West Bengal coast, has moved in a west-northwest direction at around 25 km/h over the past six hours.
As of Saturday morning, the system was positioned over Jharkhand, 20 km northwest of Ranchi and 120 km west-northwest of Jamshedpur. It is expected to move further towards Chhattisgarh, northeastern Madhya Pradesh, and southeastern Uttar Pradesh within the next 36 hours.
