New Delhi, July 23 -- Heavy rains battered parts of Delhi-NCR today morning, causing waterlogging and traffic disruptions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the region, warning of moderate to heavy showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds reaching speeds upto 30-40 kmph.

Localities falling under the red alert include Preet Vihar, Shahdara, Seelampur, Vivek Vihar, Ghaziabad, Noida, Faridabad, Palwal, Hodal, Aligarh, Bulandshahr, and Mathura.

An orange alert has also been issued for northwest and southwest Delhi, along with neighbouring regions in Haryana and Rajasthan, where light to moderate rain is expected.
