Kozhikode, March 28 -- One person lost her life life due to lightning strike as heavy rains caused widespread damage in North Kerala on Saturday evening.
A 65-year woman died after being struck by lightning at Edavanna in Malappuram. The accident occurred while she was standing in her backyard. Although she was taken to the hospital, her life could not be saved.
Heavy summer rains have been recorded in the hilly areas of Kozhikode district. Along with rain, strong thunderstorms and winds were also experienced. Trees were uprooted in many places due to the wind. Extensive damage was also reported in agricultural fields.
