Chennai, Oct. 21 -- With the Northeast monsoon becoming more active and the Met officeforecasting heavy to very heavy rains due to two Low Pressure areas over the Bay and issuingRed and Orange alerts, the Tamil Nadu government tonight declared holidays for schools andcolleges in five districts tomorrow.
A decision to this effect was taken by the respective District Collectors taking into account theMet office predicting heavy to very heavy rains.
While in Chennai holiday was declared for schools only, the district Collectors of Villupuram,Chengalpattu, Cuddalore and Thanjavur have declared holiday for all educational institutions,including schools and colleges.
