Nagpur, Aug. 20 -- Over the last five days, following torrential rains, flooding, and lightning, at least eight people have lost their lives across Vidarbha region in Maharashtra, sources said.
Torrential rains continued to lash Vidarbha for the second consecutive day, triggering floods and lightning strikes across the region.
The Regional Meteorological Department(RMD) issued a red alert for Chandrapur and orange alerts for adjoining districts. Severe rainfall was recorded in Gadchiroli, Brahmapuri and several other areas.
Yavatmal recorded two deaths, one due to lightning and another because of flooding.
Similarly, one person each died in Nagpur, Washim, Buldhana, Amravati, Bhandara and Akola.
