Chennai, Aug. 31 -- With the Chennai city and suburbs reeling under intense heatamid brief spell of showers, sudden heavy rains battered Chennai city and suburbs latelast night and early this morning, sharply bringing down the mercury level and providinga huge relief to the people of this teeming megapolis.
As per Met office forecast, the rains were likely to continue till September six in TamilNadu.
Hearing about the sudden heavy rains, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, who lndedin Germany today morning as part of his official visit to woo investments into the state,dialled up Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) officials and enquired about the situationand directed them to take all preventive measures.
