Chandigarh, Aug. 17 -- Heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh has led to severe flooding in parts of Punjab, with the Ravi River releasing 1.5 lakh cusecs of water, submerging areas in Pathankot's Bhoa region and border outposts.

The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, and Rupnagar districts, forecasting intense showers in these areas.

The surging Ravi River has inundated villages in Dera Baba Nanak, including Dharmkot Patan, Gurchak, Ghaniyake Bet, and others like Kalanaur, Chanduwadla, and Thakurpura in Dinanagar.
