Mumbai, May 21 -- A low-pressure area forming over the sea near the Karnataka coast is expected to cause significant changes in the weather across Maharashtra, with the Meteorological Department forecasting pre-monsoon rains in Mumbai, Konkan and other parts of the state until May 31.

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in the Konkan region and central Maharashtra for three days on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The department has forecasted that between May 21 and May 31, Mumbai and the entire Konkan region are expected to experience intense to extremely intense rainfall.
