Shimla, Oct. 6 -- The department of Meteorological Shimla has issued an orange alert for heavy rain for Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi district for today.
It has also issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds at one or two locations in the districts of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti.
Meanwhile, the weather is showing its ferocity in Himachal during the post-monsoon season. Despite the monsoon's departure from the state on September 26, rain is still falling in many areas, causing temperatures to drop.
Due to the change in the weather, cold waves are sweeping across the state and people are forced to adorn heavy woollen to keep them safe from its wrath.
