Jammu, Aug. 24 -- Life came to a standstill today after several parts of the Jammu region witnessed flash-flood-like situations due to continuous heavy rainfall, causing damage to a bridge on the Jammu-Pathankot national highway.
Officials said that overnight heavy rains created havoc in parts across the Jammu region, including in the Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Reasi and Udhampur districts.
In Jammu city, they said that the rain water along with overflowing drains gushed into the houses, causing damage to the properties and household items.
The water level in the River Tawi, flowing in the heart of the Jammu city, also increased due to rains in the upper reaches and across the region since last night.
