Thiruvananthapuram, April 24 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for Kerala, forecasting a sharp rise in temperatures and oppressive humidity across the state over the coming days.

According to the IMD, maximum temperatures are likely to reach around 41degC in Palakkad and 40degC in Thrissur, with Kollam expected to record about 39degC. Several other districts including Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Kannur, Kasaragod and Alappuzha may see temperatures in the range of 37degC to 38degC, while Thiruvananthapuram is likely to experience around 36degC, which is 3 to 5 degrees above normal.
