Shimla, May 14 -- After a brief spell of pleasant and cool weather, Himachal Pradesh witnessed a fresh surge in daytime temperatures on Wednesday, with the mercury climbing above normal across several districts.

Una was once again the hottest place in the state, recording a scorching 40.2 degrees Celsius, marking a return of intense summer conditions in the lower hills.

Earlier this week, much of the state had enjoyed relatively mild weather. However, the temperature trend reversed today, with hot and dry conditions returning to dominate the plains and mid-hill regions.
