Lucknow, May 15 -- Due to no effective weather system being active in Uttar Pradesh and hot westerly winds coming at the surface level, a significant increase in temperature was recorded, and an orange alert has been issued in the state.

Banda was hit by a heat wave in the state with a temperature of 45.4 degrees Celsius, while the temperature in Prayagraj and Hamirpur also crossed the 44-degree mark. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of a further increase in temperature during the next 24 hours.
