Hyderabad, Sept. 9 -- Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha today inaugurated virtually 34 District Day Care Cancer Centres set up in government general hospitals across the state from Sangareddy Medical College.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said cancer cases are rising at an alarming rate across the country, with Telangana registering more than 55,000 new cases every year.
"Experts warn that the number could touch 65,000 annually within the next five years," he cautioned.
Rajanarsimha said the government is giving priority to prevention, early diagnosis, and timely treatment of cancer patients, taking guidance from renowned oncologist Dr Nori Dattatreyudu.
