Kolkata, Sept. 18 -- A day after the recovery of a student's body from a forested area at Rampurhat in Nadia district, West Bengal, a fresh unrest broke out this morning when enraged locals attacked the headmaster of Shyampahari Sri Ramkrishna Vidyapith today.
The student body accused him of ignoring complaints against teacher Monoj Kumar Pal, who has been arrested for raping and murdering a Class VII student.
According to eyewitnesses, residents barged into the school premises, dragged the headmaster outside and assaulted him severely. His clothes were torn in the scuffle.
When police tried to intervene, agitated villagers hurled stones and vandalised a police vehicle. The headmaster was later rescued by the force and taken to safety.
