Shimla, April 26 -- To preserve the religious cultural heritage, the High Court of Himachal Pradesh has directed the restoration of the historic Maa Mrikula Devi Temple in Udaipur, Lahaul and Spiti.
Passing order in a public interest litigation, Chief Justice G.S. Sandhawalia and Justice Satyen Vaidya said that State Government had sanctioned an amount of Rs 22,42,000 for the temple's renovation, a sacred structure steeped in history and spiritual importance.
However, due to control of ASI, the central government couldn't spend the amount.
Present in the court were Vikrant Thakur, appearing as Amicus Curiae for the petitioner, and senior government advocates Rakesh Dhaulata and Balram Sharma, representing various respondents.
