Kolkata, Dec. 18 -- The Calcutta High Court on Thursday sought a report from the West Bengal government on vandalism and disorder at Salt Lake's Yuva Bharati Krirangan and directed the state to submit its response by Monday, when the matter will be taken up for hearing.

The direction came in connection with the chaos that broke out at the stadium last Saturday following the visit of Argentine football star Lionel Messi.

Messi had arrived at the Salt Lake Stadium and stayed there for around 20 minutes. According to the allegations placed before the court, soon after Messi left the venue, scenes of vandalism and disorder unfolded inside the stadium, leading to damage to property.
