Mumbai, Dec. 17 -- The Bombay high court on Wednesday refused to grant interim relief to Maharashtra Sports Minister Manikrao Kokate challenging the two years' conviction awarded to him in a decades-old cheating and forgery case linked to the allotment of government housing meant for economically weaker sections.
Noted lawyer Aniket Nikam moved the plea on behalf of Kokate which came up for hearing during the afternoon session before a single bench of Justice R N Laddha who refused to suspend the conviction on the same day and reserved his consideration of the issue until the scheduled hearing posted for Friday.
