Bengaluru, Sept. 4 -- The Karnataka High Court today sought a formal response from the state government on a petition challenging the police-imposed ban on non-vegetarian food within a 200-meter radius of the Sri Honneshwar Deva Temple in Shivarangere village, Tumakuru district.
The petition, iled by the Sri Honneshwar Devasthana Restoration Service Committee Trust, claims that the restriction violates the traditional customs of devotees and interferes with the daily life of residents.
The trust highlighted that since the temple is located at the centre of the village, the 200-meter ban prevents residents from cooking or consuming non-vegetarian food even within their private homes, thereby directly affecting their personal practices.
